Parole Board Vacancies

The Kentucky Commission on Corrections and Community Services is accepting applications for full and part-time membership on the Kentucky Parole Board.  One full-time position is immediately available.  Two full-time positions and one part-time position will be available June 30, 2006.  All applications must be received by April 5, 2006.

The Kentucky Parole Board is the releasing authority for persons confined in adult institutions by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. The primary workstation for Parole Board members is in Frankfort, but substantial travel to institutions throughout the state is required. The statutory qualifications for Board membership is not less than five-years actual experience in penology, corrections, law enforcement, sociology, law, education, social work, medicine or a combination thereof, or have served at least five years previously on the parole board (KRS 439.320). By law the board consists of seven full-time and two part-time members with no more than five members of the same political party. Therefore your application must indicate your party affiliation. The governor appoints members to a four-year term, with eligibility for re-appointment. Appointments are subject to senate confirmation. Interested applicants should submit a completed Boards and Commissions application form available online at http://governor.ky.gov/employment/In order to access the Boards and Commissions application, individuals must register with Kentucky.gov. The site will prompt users to sign-in or create a new user account.
