(Frankfort, KY) – During a recent traffic stop in Bath County, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement (KVE) Special Operations Section seized over 9.5 pounds of processed marijuana. The seizure has an estimated street value of more than $15,000 dollars.

Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement Officer Robert Dale conducted the stop on a White 2006 Chevrolet Impala for speeding near 118 mile marker on I-64 East, in Bath County. After talking with the driver, Officer Dale detected a strong odor of marijuana, which warranted further inspection.

During the search, ten (10) one gallon ziplock bags of marijuana, weighing approximately 9.5 pounds were discovered inside a tan duffel bag. Both subjects were arrested and charged with Trafficking in Marijuana over five pounds and were lodged in the Montgomery County Regional Detention Center.

"I commend all of the officers involved for their dedication to making Kentucky a safer place to live for all its citizens.  This action takes a significant amount of illegal drugs off the streets," said Commissioner Greg Howard.

Officer Dale was assisted by his K-9 “Axle” and KVE Officer Bobby Williams. The DEA is assisting Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement with the investigation.
