Kentucky State Police wants to remind citizens of Kentucky that next year is the 40th anniversary of Trooper Island located on Dale Hollow Lake in Southern Kentucky (Clinton County). Trooper Island Camp was formed by the Kentucky State Police through tax deductible contributions. The idea was to establish a permanent recreational site where state troopers and campers could share a week long experience. Kentucky State Troopers selects boys and girls from all 120 counties throughout Kentucky. Many of those selected would not normally have the opportunity to attend a summer camp. Trooper Island is a place where deserving youth, ages 10-12, have an opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives. It is not intended as a place where troubled youth and juvenile offenders are sent for discipline.
Kentucky State Police in Ashland are attempting to locate Trooper Island Alumni in order to commemorate this anniversary. Trooper Island staff are requesting all alumni visit a new web page available for all alumni to visit and sign up. http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/trooperislandcontact.htm
